If you're making a presentation as part of a conference, you should try to attend some of the earlier sessions by other speakers to assess their presentation skills and gain context. This demonstrates respect for your fellow presenters and allows you to gauge the crowd. What is the crowd's disposition? Are individuals in the mood to chuckle, or are they somewhat stiff? Are the presentations more strategic or more tactical? There may be anything spoken by another speaker that you can use in your own presentation.
