Stay calm and speak slowly
It's not necessary to immediately respond; instead, take a moment to think of what you want to say.
Attempting to speak before you have the words prepared can make you feel uneasy and impair your sentence formation. It can even leave you feeling a little flustered or discouraged!
Want a hint? Breathe!
You might start by doing breathing techniques, especially when you feel a bit worried before speaking.
Breathing forces you to calm down, giving you an opportunity to consider before you speak. It’s entirely natural to want to slow down the conversation, especially if you’re chatting with a native English speaker.
